Radio Sentai Castranger [47] Dump Taisen

The full core team, Silver Caster, North Caster, and our good friend Derek the Bard, aka Bard Caster, all crams into this week's Castranger to talk about the merits of Drive as a Rider in general and some news about Type Formula, Starninger, Kamen Rider Yongo, Shocker's Rider Robo, and the Legacy Blade Blaster, before we talk about the episode. 

 

This week includes Drive being more of a cop drama than ever, forming a bromance between the comedy relief character and a decorative truck that speaks via enka music, and the continuing decline of Shijima Gou's credibility. 

 

The feature of this week in tokusatsu is unarguably the debut of Shuriken Sentai Ninninger. We talk about the family of ninjas with their dad and grandpa as their Zordon/Alpha combo, their mostly uninteresting and thus-far under-developed characters, and the incredibly polarizing discussion on the designs of the zords and megazord, Shurikenjin. 

 

Finally, we discuss the most hard-hitting opinion piece of our entire career - favorite sixth/extra rangers!

Our first Skype guest, the legendary Crunchman, finally joins us for this week's Castranger! In Drive, Shijima Gou aka Kamen Rider Mach becomes Peter Parker, and meanwhile, the ToQger megazord invades the Kureshima family mansion. Then we talk about the ToQger Galaxy Line SOS movie, aka the Train Bitch From Outer Space.

This week, on the first Castranger of 2015 and quite possibly one of our most polarizing episodes ever, North Caster returns! Kamen Rider Mach debuts; we discuss his design and Shijima Gou's... "interesting" character and methodology. Not to ignore the awesomery that is the Gunman Roidmude. Plus we learn some things about Slowdown / Density Shift. ToQger ends 2014 with a clip show and a concert. THEN. My god, then... Remember how we said apparently the second Guyver movie was going to be better? Did it end up being better? Kind of, but not really. Strap in as we follow David Hayter to Utah in Guyver: Dark Hero.

We talk about Tomari's magical cockblocking Christmas adventure, Chase's true form revealed, and the shadowy Mach tease. Meanwhile on the Plot Line- I mean Rainbow Line, just gratuitous death. We steer back onto Drive to talk about the Terebi-kun special that manages to bridge the gaps between Episode 10, Episode Zero, and the Drive-Gaim Movie Wars. Finally, we all finally with the final finale of Power Rangers Super Megaforce, the Legendary Battle episode that all the hype over the last year has built up to. Does it payoff? We welcome back North Caster, Cell Saga. We argue about whether Drive Type Technic (yes, Technic, not Technique) looks good or bad, we talk about the evil creepy Japanese Doc Brown, then ToQgger gets - oddly - both sadface and seriousface. Then, the real discussion starts: we critique the first live-action Guyver movie. WOW.

An amazing episode of Castranger! We begin with some news, including the Baron and Zangetsu movie, Kamen Rider Mach, The second ToQger magazine special, and the Ninninger reveals, then we go off on some weird tangent where we theorycraft Cinderella into a tokusatsu of its own. We talk about the debut of the Door Gun, then the ToQgers run the token metahumor movie studio episode, but it's not quite just that. Kagura steals the episode, then an accomplished suit actor steals it back. We then finally talk about the Sharivan movie, and who better to cameo on a movie-centric Castranger than one of our group's movie buffs, North Caster! It's a party you don't want to miss!
